Carbon Plant Improves Safety Tracking
Ron Sutton of Baton Rouge, Louisiana is using MAPCON to help track Safety related training using special numbers. His company, Oxbow (formerly Great Lakes Carbon), is a manufacturer of carbon products used in the aluminum and titanium oxide industries. They have several plants across the Southern United States that use MAPCON.
To track their training on a timecard in MAPCON a Special number is pre-defined and chosen from a Lookup. There are default special numbers, called System Special Numbers, that come shipped standard in MAPCON and include vacation, jury duty, bereavement, sick leave and others. Anyone can setup User Special numbers, and Ron took advantage of this useful feature and created his own numbers for tracking Safety and ISO required training at Oxbow. Special numbers provide a place to track time when you don't have a work order to charge against.
Ron says "I went to the Mapcon User Group (MUG) and saw some of the possibilities for tracking safety training. I talked with MAPCON Support about it, and with their help, came up with a simple solution to a problem we have had for a long time." Ron is thrilled he now has a convenient place within MAPCON to keep track of who has met their requirements for safety training, and who hasn't.
